Accommodation for Juniors
College Residences
Bath Academy has three supervised College Residences – the Bathurst (0.6 miles – a 12 minute walk from the school), The Oxford (0.3 miles – 6 minutes) and the Cambridge (1.2 miles – 25 Minutes)
- The Bathurst has a small garden exclusively for the use of the students with shrubs, flowers and a pleasant patio where students can relax and enjoy barbecues in the summer months.
- The Oxford is our largest and most central hostel.
- In the Cambridge hostel most bedrooms are en-suite.
- All meals are provided with breakfast, a packed lunch and an evening meal.
- A hostel manager lives in to ensure that students’ welfare needs are met.
- Bedrooms are well furnished. Juniors sleep in bunk beds; up to 4 students per room (this applies to all three hostels).
- All hostels are non-smoking.
- The hostels are happy and secure places to live.
Homestay Accommodation
Bath Academy arranges accommodation in Bath with caring and responsible Homestay Providers. Living in Homestay accommodation, students are able to learn more about British customs and traditions and gain additional conversational practice. Our Accommodation Officer chooses hosts very carefully. They are visited and interviewed in order to make sure that they satisfy our criteria. We always aim to select hosts who are genuinely interested in learning more about different cultures.
The majority of Homestay Providers will take two students to share one room. Each student will have a bed, wardrobe space, a chair and a desk for studying. Some rooms are en-suite but in most cases students will share a bathroom with the hosts. It is possible to request a single room for an extra charge and executive rooms (providing a higher quality accommodation). These are subject to availability.
Some hosts are located quite close to the college in the city centre but most of them can be reached within 15 minutes on local transport.
Homestay accommodation is full board which includes breakfast, lunch and dinner daily and a laundry service. If students have any medical or dietary requirements it is important to note this on the enrolment form as we need to know these before the commencement of the course in order to make all the necessary arrangements with the Homestay Provider.
Living with a Homestay Provider is a wonderful experience that most students treasure for the rest of their lives. Many students remain friends with their hosts and stay in touch for many years!
